Why Jaqoup ?

alot of people asked me why did i choose “Jaqoup” to be my nick

well.

that was i think more than 5 years ago

with the beginning of the internet and chatting mania between school students

and as all my friends i had to choose a nick name to use it in “hotmail messenger” or even “masrawy” chat -which i never liked BTW-

so i managed to look for a nick for myself

actually i remember i have chosen mine in a week of searching and thinking

i didn’t like what my friends have chosen for themselves as “spiderman” , “superman” , “the red dragon”…..etc.

i felt those names are just fantasy names which doesn’t reflect anything about me, i’d be just copying

so i thought somehow relegios and found that my name “Abd-alla” when translated to Hebrew it’d be “Isra-el”

and “Israel” is the name of a prophet who have been mentioned in the Holly Quraan sometimes as “Yaacob” or “Jacob”

i’ve heard from a Christian friend that “Jacob” and “Israel” dont have the same meaning and this prophet was renamed by god from Jacob to Israel for a reason but i won’t believe that as i didn’t hear that from a Muslim till now

ok so i chose “Jacob” to be my nick,

but by that time i didn’t know how was the right spelling of that word so i invented “Jaqoup”

i don’t know why.. but kind of i liked it

some years later i figured out that i was wrong about the spelling, but i couldn’t change it as i used it in so many (online) places

as long as it provided me with a precious thing “uniqueness“
